Extractions and Oral Surgery
  • No one likes their teeth to be taken out, but sometimes to prevent further infection or the tooth is beyond restorability; teeth needs to be taken out for the better health status of our patients.
Extractions

Teeth may be extracted in various procedures such as:

  • Simple
  • Complex
  • Surgical

The various procedures are determined by the conditions presented in your mouth as well as the conditions of the tooth.

Oral Surgery
  • You may require some form of an oral surgery when the removal of the tooth/teeth gets too complicated. Weighing out the pros and cons, it is more beneficial to you, as a patient, when the surgery is done within a short time, than trying to remove something in a much longer time frame.
  • Oral Surgeries are Medisave deductible hence, do ask any of our DFI Dental Surgeons about that.
Periodontal Treatment
  • The control and maintenance of bone level (that may be already loss) around the teeth due to gum diseases.
Radiographs

Xrays are the most basic form of diagnostic tool in any dental office that you see
Xrays are taken at least once a year to check on a few things such as:

  • Bone Level
  • Sinus issues
  • Temporomandibular joint
  • Decays and etc.

Your dentist may requests various types of Xrays to check on different matters. Do check with your dentist on the different types of Xrays available

Restorative and Aesthetics Dentistry

Everyone would love to have full sets of 32, if not 28, pearlie white teeth. However, if you have lost your teeth or are about to do so, they can be restored. At DFI, you can trust that our dentists will offer you the full range of restorable options during your treatment planning.

Crowns and Bridges

Permanent restorations that require the assistance of adjacent teeth for support.
A crown is basically like a helmet for your tooth, used for various reasons (like a helmet too!) such as:

  • Protect a heavily-filled tooth (i.e. teeth that have huge fillings)
  • Act as a permanent filling option (i.e. example if your filling keeps dropping out, as the filling materials are not strong enough)

When there is insufficient bone area to do an implant restoration, but require a permanent restoration due to comfort, and etc.
Various materials are selected and used to cater to your various needs as well.

Veneers

To give you an illustration, they are probably like fake nail attachments.
These are permanent restorations that are used mainly for aesthetic reason like to mask a discolored tooth at the smile region.
Usually done in even numbers (such as 2, 4 and 6) units to ensure symmetry and aesthetics.
This is the preferred solution when you do not want your tooth to be overly reduced (like for a crown).
Approach our dentists for the difference between the crowns and veneers!

Implants

Dental implants are surgical-grade root devices that support permanent tooth prosthetics that are manufactured to last a lifetime. These artificial roots are anchored in the bone beneath the gums where they fuse into the jaw. A crown is mounted atop the implant for a long-lasting and natural looking smile.

They offer the same function as natural teeth and also help prevent bone atrophy in the jaw. Dental implants may be used to replace a single missing or damaged tooth or to restore an entire smile. It is the most ideal form of restoring a gap that may be present in your mouth or provide support to stabilise your dentures.

The implant procedure requires minor surgery (which is a Medisave deductible procedure) to which the crown is affixed to provide the functions and aesthetics of a tooth.

If you have dentures that tend to ‘swim’ about in your mouth when you eat, and you may be using adhesive paste to stick them down, but if you’re tired of repeating the process after every hot meal, implant supported restorations may be your solution!

Aligners/Braces

When time is not an issue, orthodontic treatments are best used to align teeth.
Based on your various needs, there will be a choice between the use of aligners or traditional braces.
Within that, you have more choices on what kind of braces systems you could use.
Do ask our dentist about your options when you see them for your treatment planning!

Teeth Whitening

Been drinking a lot of coffee/tea/red wine and more coloured foods?

Your teeth may appear darker that others? You are afraid to smile in front of the camera?
Whitening may be your solution.

It is an external application of the whitening gel on the tooth to help “bleach” the tooth. Sometimes activated with light, to further enhance the “bleaching” process to make the teeth whiter.
Available in home kit and chair-side treatments.
